For the attention of travelers planning a visit to Georgia!

 

Please be informed that according to the Law of Georgia "On Tourism," starting January 1, 2026, it is mandatory for all tourists entering Georgia to possess a valid health and accident insurance policy.

Upon entering Georgia, every tourist must present a valid insurance policy in either physical (printed) or electronic form, written in Georgian or English.

The insurance policy may be issued by either a Georgian or a foreign insurance company, and the insurance coverage must be at least 30,000 GEL.

Required Information

The insurance policy must contain the following mandatory details:

▫️Parties to the insurance contract;

▫️Covered territory;

▫️Subject of insurance;

▫️Start and end dates of the insurance period;

▫️Insurance risks;

▫️Insurance coverage amount (limits);

▫️The amount of the insurance premium, as well as the place and deadline for payment.

The insurance must be valid for the entire duration of the stay, from the moment the tourist enters Georgia until they leave the country.

Exemptions

The mandatory insurance requirement does not apply to:

▫️Holders of diplomatic or special visas;

▫️Holders of diplomatic, official, service, or special passports;

▫️Accredited employees of diplomatic missions, consular offices, international organizations (and equivalent representations) in Georgia, as well as their accredited family members;

▫️Individuals whose entry into Georgia is provided for by Georgia's international agreements or treaties;

▫️Drivers involved in international road freight and passenger transportation.
